Merrill Lynch announced that effective January 15, 2009, and through January 15, 2010, it will offer to buy at par auction rate securities sold by it to its retail clients.

MERRILL LYNCH 2Q08 10-Q INCLUDES UPDATED PRO FORMA STOCKHOLDERS' EQUITY SCHEDULE
Merrill Lynch has filed its second quarter 2008 quarterly report on Form 10-Q with the SEC. The filing includes, as Exhibit 99.2, a pro forma stockholders' equity schedule updated to include 2Q08 actual data and pro forma adjustments for the estimated impact of the recently announced transactions.

MERRILL LYNCH PRICES $8.55 BILLION COMMON STOCK OFFERING
Merrill Lynch announced the pricing of its offering of 380,000,000 shares of common stock for an aggregate amount of $8.55 billion. The transaction includes an over-allotment option for up to 57,000,000 additional shares of common stock. The offering was priced at $22.50 per share. The offering was conducted as a public offering registered under the Securities Act of 1933 and will be subject to customary closing conditions. Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated is serving as sole book-running manager and underwriter of the offering.
